How Long will it take Googlebot to come by?

One of the most common questions for new sites is “How long will it take for Google to list my site in their results?”.

Google states that once submitted using their “Submit Url” form;

We add and update new sites to our index each time we crawl the web, and we invite you to submit your URL here. We do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear.”

In other words it may be a few week to months before your website is included, it may also be a lot faster than that through simply linking to it from another website that is already listed within their results.  This is easier than you think and you may have already seen “add your website” or “submit url” links on your travels around the web already, the beauty of having your website listed faster is by gaining a link from a popular website that is visited often by Googles Indexing spider “Googlebot”.

So how do you find one of those popular websites?

Social Media and Networking websites such as Twitter, Digg, Stumbleupon and Delicious are great starting points, this will speed up the process by simply adding your websites address to your “Profile” after signing up.  Commenting on other websites that share a similar topic to your own will also improve your chances of being listed quicker a very simple way of finding those websites is to enter a simple search over at Google Blog Search, finding a blog and participating by way of comments will improve your chances of being indexed quicker, be sure though that these websites use “Dofollow” for their links as “Nofollow” goes against everything you are trying to achieve.

Dofollow directories of blogs do exist and i can highly recommend Directory Bloggers guide to blogs that use “Dofollow”

So in answer to the question: “How Long will it take Googlebot to come by?” really depends on how active you are being in these other areas to get it listed.

Easter Bunny`s 1 SEO Basket with Many Eggs

Easter Bunnies and SEO have absolutely no relationship or do they? The following list contains the correct answer, see if you can spot it.

  • They both love chocolate
  • They only ever work at Easter time
  • They have big ears
  • They are fictitious creatures
  • They deliver exactly what i want

The good SEO`s will deliver exactly what is required for your online business, high ranking relevant search results, the easter bunny to my knowledge is not very good at SEO, unless there is an online consultant seo that calls theimself the easter bunny in which case i will happily retract that statement and in turn throw a link his/her way.

The point of this article is understanding that a good SEO will only ever deliver your rankings if they understand your business, before i even get started on a new SEO project i take a lot of time considering your business first, then i will research the competition, this gives me a rough estimate of how long it will take to deliver a successful SEO campaign
